The three controls

Deposit, Loss and Time Limits Are Different

Setting one control does not automatically set the other two.

Deposit limit

Restricts how much can be deposited into the player account over a selected period.

Loss limit

Restricts net losses over a selected period.

Time limit

Restricts time spent gambling over a selected period.

Provincial comparison

Ontario and Alberta Use the Same Core Periods

Both markets require 24-hour, 7-day and one-month choices. Alberta also sets minimum reminder frequencies.

How enforcement works

The Lowest Active Period Applies

A longer-period allowance does not override a tighter shorter-period limit.

Multiple periods can run together

If a player sets both a 24-hour and a 7-day deposit limit, the lowest applicable remaining allowance controls the next deposit. Reaching either limit can stop more money entering the wallet.

Increases do not take effect immediately

A player must request the relaxation or removal. The change waits at least 24 hours. A casino cannot loosen the limit on its own. Processing for a tighter limit remains operator-specific.

A deposit limit is not a market-wide account block

It controls deposits into one account. For a break across covered regulated casino accounts, use the applicable centralized self-exclusion program. If gambling is causing harm now, contact a provincial support service instead of waiting for a limit change.

Boundaries

What This Comparison Does Not Turn Into a Number

Account-specific and unpublished values remain separate from the provincial rule.

No province-wide dollar amount is assigned to a player. The player selects an amount within the operator account controls.
A missing public casino-specific amount remains unknown and is not treated as no limit.
The provincial standards require a delay before relaxing or removing a limit, but do not publish one universal processing time for tightening a limit.
Ontario product rules are not reused as Alberta casino-specific settings.
