Online Casinos in Alberta
Alberta opens a competitive, regulated online casino market on July 13, 2026 — the second in Canada after Ontario. Until then, PlayAlberta is the only legal regulated option, so no honest “best Alberta casino” list exists yet. What does: the 46 operators lined up for launch — and how the 37 national brands among them actually score in Ontario today, as a real-data preview of what's coming.
Alberta's competitive regulated online casino market goes live. Until that day, one site is legal — and we won't pretend otherwise.

There's no honest “best Alberta casino” list yet
The competitive market doesn't open until July 13, 2026. That means any site ranking “live Alberta casinos” today is really listing offshore, unregulated operators — dressed up as if they were licensed here. We don't do that. Until launch, the only legal regulated option is PlayAlberta.
What we can show you honestly: the full lineup of 46 operators coming on July 13, and how the 37 national brands among them — Betty and the rest — actually score in Ontario right now. Real composite scores, clearly labelled as an Ontario preview, not a fake Alberta ranking.

PlayAlberta — the Only Legal Online Casino Right Now
Before the private market opens, this is the one regulated site Albertans can legally play. It's run by the AGLC itself — and it isn't going anywhere after July 13.
PlayAlberta.ca is AGLC's government-run online casino and sportsbook, live since 2020 on NeoPollard Interactive tech. It is the only legal regulated online option in Alberta today, and it keeps operating alongside the private market after July 13 — the same way OLG.ca continues in Ontario.
The Brands Coming to Alberta, Ranked by How They Do in Ontario
We can't rank live Alberta casinos before they exist. So instead, here's the honest next best thing: 37 of the operators lined up for July 13 already run in Ontario, and we score them there. This is that ranking — real Ontario composite scores, as a preview of what's landing in Alberta.
Scores are each brand's live Ontario composite — a blend of independent ratings, AGCO record, payout speed and bonus terms. See the full Ontario methodology and ranking. The complete Alberta lineup, including brands new to us, is further down.
The Alberta-Born Brands You Won't Find in Ontario
Not every operator is a national name. A handful are rooted in Alberta — including two tied to the province's own land-based casinos and First Nations ownership. They have no Ontario track record, so we flag them honestly and will score them once they're live.

Every Operator Coming to Alberta (47)
The full lineup we're tracking for July 13 — PlayAlberta (live now) plus the 46 operators registered to launch. "ON score" shows each brand's live Ontario composite where we have one; debut brands show a dash until they go live. The AGLC's public list is still growing, so treat this as our tracked snapshot.
Two Bodies, One Regulated Market
The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis commission (AGLC) registers and regulates operators; the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) is the Crown corporation that conducts and manages the market and signs each operator agreement — the same split Ontario runs with the AGCO and iGaming Ontario.
A dual registration, every time
Every legal operator holds an AGLC iGaming registration and an executed agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation. No AiGC agreement means no legal Alberta play.
Alberta-only access
Geolocation check (player must be physically in Alberta) before any wager. The market is for people physically in Alberta — a visitor can play, but you can't log in from another province.
18 and up
Alberta's legal online gambling age is 18 — a year lower than Ontario's 19. It's verified at sign-up and again through ID checks before your first withdrawal.
Province-wide self-exclusion
AGLC runs a centralized self-exclusion program that expands to online at launch — one request blocks you across every licensed site, for six months to three years.
Certified, audited games
Registration requires certified random number generators and AGLC's iGaming standards for fairness and player-fund protection — the same bar a regulated market is built on.

The Road to July 13, 2026

Alberta vs Ontario vs the Rest of Canada
After July 13, Canada has two open, competitive online casino markets — Ontario and Alberta. Most other provinces still run a single government site.
| Compare | Alberta | Ontario | BC & Quebec |
|---|---|---|---|
| Market type | Competitive — opens Jul 13, 2026 | Competitive — open since Apr 2022 | Single government site |
| Regulator | AGLC + AiGC | AGCO + iGaming Ontario | BCLC / Loto-Québec |
| Where you play | 46 private brands + PlayAlberta | 75+ private brands + OLG | PlayNow / Espacejeux only |
| Legal age | 18 | 19 | 19 (BC) · 18 (QC) |
The province estimates roughly 70% of Albertans' current online play runs through unregulated offshore sites — the core reason for opening a regulated, competitive market.
